Following the huge success of the Original and Smaller Advent Loudspeakers, the New Advent Loudspeaker was introduced. I bought 2 pair of these in 1980, and used them in the ‘Double Advent’ configuration (see other pages on this website for more info). I still use the Double Advents today, 45 years later. The woofers have been refoamed at least once.
Advent was able to get a 10 inch frame for the 10 inch woofer, so no transite spacer was needed. The tweeter and crossover were tweaked for flatter frequency response and dispersion. Like their predecessors, these were available in both Walnut and vinyl finish. Also like their predecessors, they used a woofer with a huge magnet.
I had a question about the crossover, so I found this. Tx to Pete B. wherever you are! You’ll note the this crossover schematic is different that the original. New woofer used and updated tweeter required a new crossover.
